Make Tawang enquiry reports public: AAPSU
ITANAGAR, Jun 5: The families of the victims of May 2 Tawang firing incidents have demanded that the reports of the two inquiry committee be made public.
A team of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), who visited Tawang to gather evidences from the victims of the firing incident to file a case in the Supreme Court (SC), informed that the families of the victims were critical of the Government for not making the enquiry reports public though the ADC has already submitted his report to the Chief Secretary on May 19.
According to AAPSU, a unanimous decision was taken by the families of the victims and the residents of Tawang to file a case in the Supreme Court for appointment of an independent investigation agency to probe the firing incident so that guilty are prosecuted.
They condemned the FIR lodged against Lama Lobsang Gyatso and his subsequent arrest stating that he had committed no criminal offence.
Meanwhile, senior advocate of Supreme Court, Colin Gonsalves, who also was with the AAPSU team, was shocked at the indiscriminate firing against an unarmed group and firing at the head.
He said that he had studied the FIR against Lama Lobsang Gyatso and he could find no criminal offence against him. According to him, Lama was arrested on a ‘flimsy ground’.
“It seemed the arrest was directed by influential people,” the Supreme Court advocate opined after thoroughly analyzing the testimonies received.
He criticized the attempts of the political establishment to convert an issue relating to dams and acquisition of people’s lands into a communal issue.
He hailed the AAPSU for taking up the issue.
Earlier, the AAPSU team led by general secretary Biru Nasi and accompanied by DSU members from Kra-Dadi interacted with the monks, who were present on that fateful day. The team met the families of the deceased as well as the injured victims. They also met the police officials and obtained a copy of the FIR filed against Lama Lobsang Gyatso and another FIR against the residents of Tawang.
The team was supported by the public of Tawang, including DSU members, Arunachal Anti-corruption Union and several other welfare associations of the district.
Ailing health sector and medical college

Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has given top priority to improve the ailing health sector. As part of the plan, Pul recently announced that proposed medical college will start functioning from academic session 2017 onwards in the Tomo Riba State Hospital (TRSH) campus. The announcement of Chief Minister has naturally given lot of hope to the people of state. Due to absence of good hospital and lack of modern medical facilities, often medical patients are forced to go outside the state seeking treatment.
While those who have money can afford but poor people faces uphill task in getting required medical help. Therefore, the starting of medical college will be a blessing especially for the poor and downtrodden. The proposed medical college has been in offing since 1998. Government of Arunachal had acquired 200 acre land at Pachin colony in this regard. Compensation and land revenue has also been paid for the plot of land. Accordingly, DC Papum Pare vide order No. Memo-CP/ LA-135/86 dated 1/1/99 allotted 200 acre of land to the medical department for construction of a 500 bedded hospital. The foundation stone for the Medical College was laid by L K Advani, the then Deputy Prime Minister of India on 11th November, 2003. However since then successive government have not pursued the matter and medical college has remained only in papers. Former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki during his tenure tried to revive project but various issues came his way. One of the main concerns has been reluctance of local people to vacate the land. However, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul during his visit to the proposed site on April last has assured to look into the grievances of local people. Pul assured the villagers that they would be provided with all benefits to be accrued from the project. Preference for minor contractual works and the group C & D jobs would be filled up by the affected villagers. The CM also assured that even for all the technical posts and major tender works, the affected villagers would be given first preference if they meet the required criteria.
Unfortunately, till now villagers continues to create obstacle. To start with, the state government will use infrastructure available within periphery of TRSH. It will be upgraded to 500 bedded hospital to meet the requirement of starting medical college.
“All the government offices located nearby state hospital have been given to us. Most of the offices are starting to move out and some are in the process. We expect Legislative Assembly and IPR department to shift out at the earliest. These infrastructures will be used for starting of medical college but for long run and to expand hospital, we immediately need 200 acre land acquired at Pachin,” shared an official of health department.
In January this year, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India released Rs 25 crore to Arunachal as grant-in-aid for establishment of the medical college. This is in addition to Rs 7.5 crore released in November 2015. The process for obtaining Letter of Permission (LOP) from Medical Council of India and other required formalities to start college will have to be completed by December this year. It’s a big task but as per the health department officials, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin and officials of DHS led by Director Dr Moji Jini is putting every effort to make sure this time medical college indeed starts functioning. Come September 2017, the wait may finally end and Arunachal may have its first medical college.
CM assures help to Arunachalee patients in Mumbai
MUMBAI, Jun 5: Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has assured to extend help to the patients undergoing treatment in Mumbai.
On being apprised of the difficulties faced by the patients during a visit to Arunachal Bhawan, Mumbai on Saturday, the Chief Minister assured to provide an ambulance fully equipped with life saving devices so that they can travel to Tata Memorial Hospital, which is around 30 km from the Arunachal Bhawan, without any trouble.
The US Roof also agreed to arrange 20 rooms for Arunachalee patients near the Tata Memorial Hospital where most of the patients are being treated for cancer.
Responding to another complaint of the patients, the Chief Minister assured to ask the State Health Department to empanel hospitals in Maharashtra under Chief Minister’s Universal Health Insurance Scheme.
He also said that a Deputy Resident Commissioner along with all the supporting staff would be posted soon in Mumbai.
Chief Minister earlier visited the cancer patients at Tata Memorial Hospital and suggested them to apply for treatment expenses to be covered under Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). He assured that the state government would provide maximum assistance to meet their treatment costs.
Pul, who visited the Arunachal Bhawan learned through the cancer patients living in the 17-storied building that they are not being allowed to use the elevator and the main entrance gate.
This is due to non-payment of certain maintenance bills, the patients told the Chief Minister. The CM said he was pained to see the ‘ill-treatment’ being meted out to the students and patients from Arunachal Pradesh, staying in Arunachal Bhawan in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
US Roof Ltd. had recently served notice to the cancer patients living in Arunachal Bhawan to either vacate the bhawan or pay electric bill of Rs.1000 per month/per room. (PRO, CMO)
World Environment Day celebrated across state
ITANAGAR, Jun 5: The World Environment Day was celebrated across the state with the rest of the world on Sunday.
At Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, Governor JP Rajkhowa along with officers and officials planted tree saplings, including fruit bearing trees.
In his address to the people of the State, the Governor said that it is a great day to take care of the environment which is degrading very fast due to global warming, uncontrolled felling of trees and all kind of man-made activities.
The Governor also emphasised that saplings, which are planted must be well nourished and looked after. The saplings must be looked after like a baby.
The Environment and Forest Department conducted a brainstorming session under the chairmanship of PCCF & Principal Secretary (Environment & Forests), G N Sinha in the conference hall of the PCCF office marking the World Environment Day.
The theme for this year’s WED as decided by the United Nations is “Go Wild for Life- Zero tolerance to Illegal Wildlife Trade”. The session was attended by senior officers and field officials of the department stationed in Itanagar.
Sinha gave an account of the historical perspective on evolution of forest, wildlife, environmental laws, growth of judicial activism and outlined the contributions made by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for enactment of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and Forest (Conservation) Act,1980.
He also informed that it is the fundamental duty of every citizen to act towards protection of forest, bird and wildlife. During the brainstorming session a large numbers of issues impacting the environment, forest and wildlife were discussed.
CCF, C.D. Singh talked about the experiment launched by the Vellore Municipal Corporation in disposal of MSW and how it turned out to be a financially surplus venture and stated that the same can also be replicated in the state.
DCF (WL & BD), Tapek Riba stressed upon the procedure regarding prosecution of offenders under Wildlife Protection Act as prescribed under the provisions of Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.
Many speakers stressed upon the need to regulate the issue/ renewal of gun license in Arunachal Pradesh. All the members were of the opinion that most of the guns particularly .22 (point two two) gun is used for killing wildlife. It was also decided that zero tolerance to wildlife crime should be started from inspection of meat market of various towns in the State.
DCF, Wildlife, Koj Rinya, stressed the need for establishment of tribunals for wildlife offences in the lines of National Green Tribunal for quick and effective disposal of cases.
It was resolved that strict enforcement of law on wildlife should be ensured besides enlisting support of the local community.
Pakke Tiger Reserve observed the day with Panchayat members, women Self Help Groups, Non-Governmental organisations and the general public at the Nature Interpretation centre. The forest department marked this day with outreach activities on multiple fronts and got reciprocal commitments from the general public.
Range Forest Officer of Tippi Wildlife Range Kime Rambia gave a presentation on activities undertaken in the last two years within his range. He appealed the general public to reciprocate and help in conservation of wildlife and forest.
“Such celebrations help us renew our promise and commitment to environmental protection”, added Kime Rambia who said that he and his staff will keep on working to protect Pakke Tiger Reserve.
“People and children are our partners in the protection of Pakke”, said Tana Tapi, the Divisional Forest Officer of Pakke Tiger Reserve in his message.
From Tippi, Bhalukpong and Elephant flat area adjacent to Pakke Tiger Reserve, 120 RCC pillar posts, 280 CGI sheets and 10 piggeries were disbursed to the selected beneficiaries. The beneficiaries gave an undertaking that they will refrain from hunting or poaching and will spread awareness to protect wildlife.
Forest department also reached out to schools in the nearby area.
They partnered with IT Nature Trust, Pratham publishing house and book donors from all over India as part of the “Reach to Read” Program to set up small libraries. Books were given to Navajyoti English schools, Bhalukpong, Government middle school, Tippi and Government Middle School, Upper Bhalukpong.
Apart from the forest department, staff of Pakke Tiger Reserve, the DFO of Khellong Forest Division and the RFO of the Orchid centre also participated in the program.
In Pasighat, the College of Horticulture and Forestry (CHF) Pasighat and its NSS Unit celebrated World Environment Day with plantation programme and discussion on environmental issues.
The faculty, staff and students of CHF planted 500 saplings of different varieties in and around the college. The NSS Unit also conducted ‘Essay Writing’ competition on the topic “India’s Promises to Paris Conference is achievable and how” to mark the occasion.
Discussing on the theme of World Environment Day this year- “Go Wild for Life”, the organizing secretary of New Delhi based All India History Reforms Project, Balmukund Pandey lamented that the native species of animals and plants were diminishing due to worldwide illegal poaching and trading wild species. He appealed all sections to have a collective responsibility for conservation, which is equally important to development of human civilization.
Nari-Koyu MLA Kento Rina asked the faculty members and students to spread environmental education among common masses and teach them to protect the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem found in natural vegetations. He was happy to see greenery developed in CHF campus and maintenance of sanitary condition therein.
In the occasion, Dean of CHF, Pasighat Dr AK Pandey presented the CHF profile and delivered popular lecture on water demand in agriculture, while Dean of NERIST, Nirjuli Prof Binay Singh discussed on use of improved technologies to minimize environmental pollution.
At Oyan: The Lisang Donyi Welfare Society(NGO) with the help of students and teachers of local schools celebrated the international day. The participants planted 100 tree saplings in and around Oyan charali and conducted a meeting to discuss various environmental issues.
Over 500 saplings were planted in different places of Daporijo town as part of the World Environment Day celebration.
The plantation drive was initiated by Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom under mission ‘Clean and Green Dapo’.
Roadside plantation was started last month and caretakers were appointed to look after the saplings and their growth.
In Singchung under West Kameng, a tree plantation and cleanliness drive was organised by All Arunachal Gorkhali Janakalyan Samity in association with Shergaon Forest Division, Rupa on Sunday.
A total of 210 saplings were planted on the hills near Govt. Higher Secondary School, Singchung.
DFO, Millo Tassar informed about the importance and benefits of organic agriculture and also highlighted the need of conservation.
RFO Rupa, Yachang Kani, RFO, Eaglenest, Kushal Hazarika, Deputy Ranger, Eaglenest Shergaon Forest Division, L.N.Thongchi, Gaon Bura of Singchung, Dawa Sarai, Principal of Govt. Hr. Secondary School, Singchung, Amje Phiang, Bugun Welfare Society, Indi Glow and many others participated in the plantation drive.
In Namsai, a mass tree plantation drive cum environment awareness seminar was organised by the Arunachal Students' Federation Namsai Unit (ASF) in collaboration with the Young Pioneer Welfare Association, Namsai (YPWA) markind the WED.
MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary, Tax & Exise etc. Zingnu Namchoom accompanied with Namsai DC R.K Sharma, and HoDs participated in the tree plantation.
The plantation started from 2nd Mile to Noa Dihing Bridge followed by Environmental Awareness seminar at Namsai Town Club.
Speaking in the seminar, DC called on the students and the youths to learn to use waste materials into useful items for recycling and stressed on hygienic living for healthy environment.
Prof. Naveen Pandey and Dr. S.K Tiwari from Arunachal University of Studies, Namsai spoke on the topic environmental awareness and scientific waste management through presentations and DPO, Dr. C.M Thamoung spoke on Prevention and Control of Vector Borne Disease.
MLA Dr. Nakul Chai while participating in the World Environment Day celebration at Tezu, expressed his grave concern over rapid deforestation activities and its effects, which according to him was clearly visible in Tezu.
"During our childhood, even if there was rain for months, there was no fear of flood. But, today, three days of rain creates havoc', Dr Chai said. He opined that harm on the environment is striking back on us in the form of 'global warming.
The local MLA underlined the need to stop irrational hunting.
“Hunting on traditional reason by a community is fine. But, hunting for enjoyment and recreational purposes is not acceptable, he said and appealed to all to refrain from illegal hunting. He called upon the government employees in the district to help create awareness on conserving wildlife.
Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf also discouraged hunting for greed and pleasure.
Earlier, DFO S. Manyu revealed that the department has been facing a tough challenge in implementing various laws with regard to conservation of environment. Due to lack of adequate communication between the government agency and the masses, spates often arose. And to iron out the issues, he felt the civil volunteers can act an interface between the masses and the forest department.
The NSS unit of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) celebrated the day by planting trees in the university campus.
Around 376 saplings were planted. Besides volunteers NSS Programme Officer Gomar Basar, Finance Officer Prof. Amitav Mitra, Coordinator, Centre with Potential for Excellence in Biodiversity Prof. H N Sarma and research students participated in the programme.
A lecture on topic “Environment, climate and biodiversity of eastern Himalaya: Arunachal Pradesh” was delivered by Prof Sarma.
Mock drill on fire accident by DDMA Lohit
TEZU, Jun 5: DDMA Lohit in collaboration with the Tezu Bazaar Committee has conducted Fire mock drills at Tezu Town on Saturday evening.
Drills involving Fire Service, Medical emergency service, State Police, District Administration and Bazaar Committee were conducted at Main market Chariali and Oshin Market Tezu.
Overall exercise was to observe the co-ordination between various stakeholders during a fire mishap, informed DDMO Tezu Damchin Norbu.
Services of two fire tender, State Police personnel, Town magistrate, Medical ambulance, volunteers were pressed into the drill.
DC Lohit Danish Ashraf warned that poor electrification and negligence will cause fire accidents as he emphasized on Fire safety equipment.
Two-day Cosplay competition concludes
ITANAGAR, Jun 5: The two-day Cosplay competition organized by Arunachal Cosplay Club concluded at Dera Natung Govt College Auditorium on Sunday.
Mechukha MLA Pasang Dorjee Sona praising the organizer for conducting the competition in a grand manner, he said, “Cosplay is a unique form of performing art, where not only tailoring but also many more skills like crafting, creativity, performing skills, stage presentation are required.”
Cosplay also helps youngsters improve communication skills, he said, and assured his all possible help if the team Arunachal gets selected for World Cosplay Summit 2016.
AAPSU Spokesperson Tanya Agu also appreciated the organizer and said that the Cosplay can not only help the youths to develop their skills, but also distract their minds from anti social activities.
Both Sona and Agu congratulated Junu Pinggam and Gichik Chichi on their preliminary selection for Cosplay tournament in Mumbai for representing the country at World Cosplay Summit-2016 scheduled to be held in Nagoya, Japan from July 30 to August 7.
ABK Youth Wing, chief patron, Mongol Yomso, who attended the second day of competition, exhorted the cosplayers to strive to become good citizen and contribute in the nation building activities while keeping up their noble endeavour to promote cosplay.
Later, he gave away prizes to the winners.
Gichik Chichi emerged winner of the competition for her character as Kurumi from date a live while Mudang Nomo as Naruto and Samuel Yaying as Sasukro from Naruto got the first and second runner up prizes.
Chakbi Lombi as Ikaros from Sora no atashi mano and Pipi as Katrina Kitty Cat from Lol were adjudged best craftsman of the competition while Miti Taboh as Bao Hanko from one pecie won the most popular cosplayer.
WHL organise field trip for survivors of violence
Itanagar, Jun 5: The Arunachal Women Helpline (WHL) organized a field trip to 'Kerala Cakes and Bakes' set up in Nirjuli for survivors of violence.
The field trip was organized with dual motto of learning and exposure to a new activity for the girls in the age group of 12-18 years. The victims were overwhelmed looking at the machineries and the big hot ovens.
They enjoyed learning to bake cookies, cakes, and even bread and buns, informed WHL-Manager Mina Toko .
The victims were very enthusiastic and in high spirits learning to bake.
"I am privileged to be sharing my talents to these young women, said head baker Nasrul Islam and Raju.
I am very happy and I pray that they excel in their life" said the owner Hari, a doctor by profession.
"One day I will bake a cake for my brother's birthday" said a 13-year-old survivor.
The field trip to the factory was to make the young girls learn baking so that they may use the skill to earn a livelihood.
PPA reacts
ITANAGAR, Jun 5: Reacting to the news item regarding the high court quashing of no confidence motion against Tirap ZPC, Peoples’ Party of Arunachal (PPA) has claimed it as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by the general secretary PPA, Nyasam Jongsam, the party said that Chawang Lowang, ZPC Tirap was voted out and new ZPC was elected by the three PPA ZPMs with support of three independent ZPMs of 15- Tirap Zilla Parishad on May 16 last.
Unfortunately unable to bear the defeat in the no confidence motion, Lowang moved the High Court seeking stay on the process. But High Court after hearing both the parties disposed off his appeal and directed the member secretary, 15- Tirap Zilla Parishad to hold fresh no confidence motion against him within 10 days. He tried to create confusion among the general public, and especially the people of Tirap district in particular, the statement further added.
Follow the eligibility criteria : AACWA
ITANAGAR, Jun 5: All Arunachal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) urged all executing/works departments to strictly follow the eligibility criteria, thoroughly check/verify the capability and financial soundness of contractors before awarding any work.
AACWA association, in a release claimed that there are many part-time contractors after getting work order allegedly with the help of influential politicians and officials, fail to complete the work.
The contractors should atleast have the capacity to spend some fund in their own when the department concerned is unable to pay in adavance or the running bill against the work. AACWA suggested those contractors to go for works which are within their financial capability because Arunachal Pradesh has to depend upon the Centre for every single penny.
It, however, appealed to the State government to relaese fund for those projects/works which are already sanctioned.
AACWA also urged all nodal agency of rural electrification projects under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana to conduct the tendering process in a free and fair manner.
Parl Secy inspects works at Namsai
NAMSAI, Jun 5: Parliamentary Secretary Tax & Excise and Textile & Handicraft, Chau Zingnu Namchoom made unannounced visit on all ongoing civil works within Namsai constituency.
Namsai, DC, R.K Sharma, DIGP (E), A. Bitin, SDPO, AE PWD, Namsai accompanied the local MLA in the visits. He visited the ongoing construction sites of Mini Secretariat Building, township roads, Namsai - Samuguri bridge, RCC bridge over Jenthu Nallah on Namsai-Jaipur road, multipurpose cultural hall and asked the concerned agency department to complete the construction of Mini Secretariat Building
He further advised the AE, PWD, Namsai to expedite repairing of all township roads and link roads with proper drainage system.
Lizamoni Sensuwa is DY 365 Bihurani
ITANAGAR, Jun 5: Lizamoni Sensuwa of Dibrugarh won the DY 365 Bihurani (seasion-7) contest.
She was declared winner among the six finalists by a panel of jury comprised of Amerendra Gogoi, Somnath Bora (Oja), Seema Kakoty Mishra and Pahari Baruah.
The winner walked away with a K-10 Maruti car the key of which was handed over to her by the managing director of the TV channel Dipanwita Jaiswal.
Noted dance expert Sharadi Saikia was also conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award on the occasion.
Around 200 contestants from across Assam participated in the Bihurani contest organized by Assamese TV channel DY 365.
Ato Piilo Club defeat PHCF Club 3-0
ITANAGAR, Jun 5: Ato Piilo Club beat PHCF Club 3-0 in the second match of Pasighat Dree Football Tournament, 2016 at JN College playground on Sunday.
Radhe Bhai of ATC scored two goals in 25th and 28th minute while Koj Aring scored the third goal at 55th minute.
Earlier in the Volleyball match, Achi Takar Club defeated Ayo Danyi Club.
Achi Takar Club will meet Ato Piilo Club in football and Ayo Danyi Club will meet PHCF Club in Volleyball on Monday.
AHSA, LBSC draw in Dree Football Tournament
ZIRO, Jun 5: The day three matches of the 49th Central Dree Football Tournament was played between 2015 defending champion All Hija Sports Association (AHSA) and Laji Bogia Sporting Club (LBSC) of Group-A pool here at Dree Ground, Ziro.
Lod Gyuth of LBSC scored in the 74th minute to make the score 1-0. During three minutes additional time, AHSA got an opportunity to shoot a free kick in which Defender Pura Dukhung netted the goal for AHSA and thereafter the match ended with 1-1.
The second match of the day was played between Zamra Football Club (ZFC) and High Definition Football Club (HDFC) in which ZFC beat the later by 2-0 goals. Tapi Kojing and Hibu Obing scored one goal each for ZSC.
CM mourn teacher’s death
ITANAGAR, Jun 5: Mito Pertin, who was serving as Junior Teacher at Bekhuliang Middle School under Sunpura circle of Lohit district, died on Friday night after a prolonged illness at a hospital in Dirbugarh.
Pertin, 35, was the eldest son of Anjaw Superintendent of Police, Guni Pertin.
He left behind his wife, two daughters and a son.
Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has expressed shock and grief over death of the young teacher. Pul conveyed his condolence to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
Explosives in rivers banned
ITANAGAR, Jun 5: Use of explosive and bleaching powder for fishing purpose have been banned in Nampe, Jokhio, Pnagia, M/Mangfi, Tajo Killo, Tungi, Bodo Krema Pao villages under East Kameng district. This was decided in the second general conference of Khya Welfare Society (KWS) held on May 22 last.
‘Violators will be fined one mithun, followed by action as per established law of land,’ informed a press release by the KWS.

Save environment before it’s too late
Today nation across the world is celebrating the world environment day. Every year this day is celebrated to create awareness about need to protect the environment. Sadly even as environment day was being celebrated, scientist at Cambridge University announced that Arctic is on track to be free of sea ice this year or next for the first time in more than 100,000 years. This is alarming news and should worry the world leaders. There is urgent need to come together and work towards saving the mother earth. The need is felt more when disturbing report like one disclosed by Cambridge University emerges.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his message asked the nation to take a pledge to collectively work towards conserving the precious environment resources, adding that the Earth should be kept clean and green. Modi government after coming to power has launched Swacch Bharat Abhiyan with the aim of keeping India clean and fresh. Though this programme has brought mixed result but it is definitely a good beginning. In Arunachal people are still getting to the idea of the need to save environment. Blessed with abundant natural treasure for long people of state took environment for granted. Rampant feeling of trees and release of waste products directly into rivers are posing serious threat to the environment. Especially in capital complex rivers like Senki, Pachin and Dikrong are becoming toxic due to release of waste products. The condition of Pachin and Senki River is getting worse. Day by day the two rivers are turning into drain and most of the aquatic life is dying. Similarly several natural streams are also becoming victim of pollution. Illegal destruction of forest is raging throughout the state. The department of environment and forest has been found wanting on many occasion. Pay SSA teachers
Dear Editor,
I appeal to the GoAP through your esteemed daily to release the pending salaries of SSA Teachers, so that they can join their duties during the new session at their respective posting places.
I would like to highlight the plight of teachers in resuming their duties without salaries. Some teachers are posted in mountainous areas and have to negotiate rough terrains, where there are no proper mode of communications and connectivity. Once these teachers join their posting places in interior pockets they cannot even draw their salaries regularly in absence of conveyance facilities.
Hence, I humbly request the GoAP to release the pending salaries as soon as possible so that teachers can join their duties on time and avoid loss of valuable time and ensure smooth functioning of schools.

Hats off to Leander Page and Martina Hingis for winning the French Open mixed doubles
title. When a positive dictum, "catch them young" is being negatively interpreted
as "throw them old" and when age is being treated as a hot potato, they at their
combined age of 77 (42 + 35) have shown to us that age with experience and grace
can acquire clear edge for doing magic. We should learn the art of ageing gracefully

Tigers in Sonajuli
Dear Editor,
The report, Tigers spotted in Sonajuli (Arunachal Times, June 3, 2016) is welcome news. Increasing reports of Bengal tigers spotted across various forested areas of the state are is an exciting news for wildlife enthusiasts around the globe. Arunachal Pradesh has vast tracts of virgin forests very little of which has been scientifically explored. Increasing foot print of the largest predator in Arunachal Pradesh is an indication of the health of the local forests and the quality of the prey base. It will be a good approach for the State Government to include local villagers as members of Forest Protection and Conservation Committee and use them as local resources for wildlife and forest conservation. If the intimate knowledge of the indigenous communities of the state be successfully employed in conservation efforts, Arunachal Pradesh will be able to preserve its enormous biodiversity and picturesque natural beauty.
